        Dandelions
Why are they so good for you?
Who are they not good for?

What most people consider to be a weed is actually one of the best plants on the planet for you!  The range of health benefits is just mind boggling. The medicinal benefits of this herb were first used in the 11th century. All parts of the plant (leaves, flowers and roots) are all edible. The name Dandelion comes from the latin term dens leonis which means “lion’s tooth.’’ This is said to be based on the jagged shape of the leaves. This plant grows all over the world, and is considered to most people to be a nuisance weed. However, this is one remarkable plant. It grows just about anywhere, and in most conditions. The yellow flowers open up in the morning with the sun to light up the grass like beautiful jewels. Their will to grow is so strong, it pushes up through the cracks in sidewalks! Cement! That is such a testament to their strength, resilience and abilities.

Fun Facts about Dandelion: It is said to mimic astrological symbols-

*The yellow flower mimics the sun, and its petals look similar to sun rays.

*The fluffy ball of seeds mimics the moon. A light, feathery globe.

*The seeds of the feathery globe mimic stars when looked at closely.
